Nick Neale [General Manager]
I have been employed in the leisure industry for all of my working life.
Having gone to school in North Devon and then studying 'A' levels at Yeovil College, I undertook an HND in Business at Teesside University in the mid-80s. I then qualified with a First MSc in Sociology of Sport and Sports Management from Leicester University in 1998.
I moved to Bridport in 2001 to take up the position of General Manager with Bridport & West Dorset Sports Trust. Previously, I managed Larkfield Leisure Centre, a large leisure facility near Maidstone in Kent.
I am the Regional Quest Assessor for the South West, which involves visiting and inspecting other leisure facilities in the South West and Channel Islands. It is this experience that has allowed me to witness and encourage me to use examples of good practice gleaned from other leisure centres and introduce the same at Bridport Leisure Centre.
On a personal note, I am married with three children. My sporting prowess may best be desribed as an 'all rounder'! I play team squash and league racketball. I enjoy playing cricket for the infamous Squanderers and sailing and windsurfing in the summer months. To keep fit I swim, do the odd spinning class and Kinesis under the watchful eye of the brilliant Instructors.
I consider myself to be very fortunate and I love my job. I get a lot of satisfaction from managing quality facilities for the local community and visitors to West Dorset. The best bit of my job is being involved with sport and watching the positive impact that it has on people's lives, This I find very rewarding.
