Penny Steventon [Swimming Coordinator])
I have been teaching swimming since 1996 and for Bridport Leisure Centre since 1998.
I enjoy teaching a variety of ages and abilities from beginners to able swimmers and from pre-school children to adults both in classes or as 1:1 private lessons. I also teach swimming with the local schools who use the Centre as well as Aqua Fit three times a week and Trampoline lessons for children and adults.
When the post of Swimming Coordinator was created I was pleased to assist with the launch of the Centre's Bigfish Swim School in 2008 and have had the pleasure of working with an experienced and committed team of Swimming Teachers and Aquafit Instructors.
As well as increasing the range and number of swimming classes for both adults and children, the number and variety of Aqua Fit sessions has also increased for the benefit of all. I also coordinate the Centre's Trampoline classes.
In my teaching roles I have the joy of seeing all our swimmers and trampolinists progress and with Aqua Fit the participants gaining fitness and stamina or improved mobility to deal with everyday life.
I hold the ASA Level 2 Teaching Aquatics, ASA Level 3 in Swim School Management, ASA Adults and Child Certificate, ASA Level 1 in Water Polo ans Synchronised Swimming, ASA Teachers Licence, NRASTC, Speedo Shallow and Deep Aqua Fit Certificate and Trampoling Coach Level 3.
I enjoy attending seminars and courses for both Swimming and Aqua Fit to update and refresh my teaching and to meet like minded teachers to exchange knowledge and ideas.
I try to keep active myself enjoying swimming, trampolining and adult gymnastics as well as trying to make use of the Fitness Suite, Circuits and Kinesis sessions all available at the Centre. Outside of the Centre I enjoy walking, reading, gardening and during the warmer months sea swimming.
